Art & Nature Residency
OPEN CALL
SUMMER - FALL 2026
KYKLart invites artists, creators and interdisciplinary practitioners from Greece and abroad to apply for the COMMON GROUND Art & Nature Residency in Syros, Cyclades.
Set in the peaceful rural landscape of Pagos, a small agricultural settlement on the island of Syros, the residency offers a space for slowing down, reconnecting with nature and developing artistic work inspired by landscape, ecology and place. Pagos is located approximately 6 km from Ermoupoli, the island’s main town. It is served by public transport and is within walking distance from the beach village of Galissas — around 40 minutes on foot through the Cycladic landscape.
Residents will stay for 8 days in a quiet house surrounded by trees, gardens and open natural space — an environment designed to support reflection, experimentation and creative focus.
As part of the residency, participating artists are invited to create a site-specific artistic action, intervention or presentation connected to the relationship between art and the natural environment of Syros. The final outcome will be shared publicly through an one day open event, set in an outdoor natural setting on the island, such as traditional paths, beaches, hills, fields etc.

Art as a way of being
We don’t treat the Cyclades as a backdrop for artistic production. The landscape, the materials, and the local rhythms actively shape the work. Art here is not imposed—it emerges through coexistence with the natural and social environment.
Practice before narrative
Rather than starting from theory or branding, KYKLart builds its identity through action: residencies, routes, interventions, and shared experiences. Projects like Common Ground are not showcases, but processes—spaces where relationships with place and people are formed in real time.
Living network
KYKLart is not a fixed community but an evolving constellation of artists, thinkers, and practitioners. Rooted in the Cyclades yet open outward, it creates conditions for meaningful encounters—where exchange, not exposure, is the primary goal.
