ART

artists residencies
KYKLart hosts artists in its space located in a village of Syros, offering a calm and inspiring environment for creative work throughout the year. As part of our ongoing artistic program, we welcome artists to live, research, and create in dialogue with the local context. We are particularly interested in residencies that explore the intersection of nature and art, fostering ineractive and participatory practices that engage with landscape, sustainability, peoplei and the sensory experience of place.

land art
Creating artworks in outdoor settings (mountains or beaches) using natural materials such as stones, wood, soil, and water is a way to connect art with the environment. The works are ephemeral and interact with the landscape, enhancing the visitor’s relationship with nature.

crafting with natural materials
Through its craft practice, KYKLart develops both artistic and functional objects using natural materials such as wood, stone, earth, and plant fibers. Rooted in the Cycladic landscape, these works draw from local craftsmanship traditions while reinterpreting them through a contemporary lens. The process emphasizes low-impact methods, respect for raw materials, and a mindful approach to making. In this way, craft becomes not only a form of expression, but also a way to reconnect with place, material, and sustainable ways of living.

hub
KYKLart acts as a creative hub, fostering a growing network of artists and practitioners engaged with art and nature across the Cyclades. Our aim is to cultivate a dynamic circle—much like the islands themselves—where ideas, practices, and collaborations can circulate and evolve. While we actively connect creators within the Cycladic context, we also welcome participants from across Greece and beyond, inviting them to engage deeply with the landscape, culture, and identity of the region. This network is closely linked to our residency program, offering a shared space where artists can meet, exchange, and create work rooted in the Cycladic environment.

art routes
As part of its artistic programming, KYKLart develops Visual Art Routes set within natural landscapes across the Cyclades. Along these routes, invited artists create and present work in situ—through live painting, site-specific installations, music, and performative actions that unfold in real time. Visitors are invited to experience art as a living process, engaging directly with creators while moving through the landscape. These routes offer a hybrid experience where artistic expression and the natural environment coexist, allowing audiences to explore, observe, and connect with both nature and art simultaneously.
