COMMON GROUND
...like sunbeams
meeting dry stone walls
Common Ground is a funded, 18-month initiative by KYKLart, designed as a first point of encounter between the organization, the Cycladic landscape, and diverse audiences. Through a series of open, site-specific artistic interventions, the project invites residents of Syros, visitors from across the Cyclades, and international guests to experience and engage with KYKLart’s philosophy in practice.
While not encompassing all of KYKLart’s activity pillars, Common Ground focuses primarily on visual art routes and artistic residencies, emphasizing art as a means of connecting with place and people. It is conceived as a living introduction—an evolving platform for dialogue, exploration, and meaningful interaction with the natural and cultural environment.
Art as a way of being
We don’t treat the Cyclades as a backdrop for artistic production. The landscape, the materials, and the local rhythms actively shape the work. Art here is not imposed—it emerges through coexistence with the natural and social environment.
Practice before narrative
Rather than starting from theory or branding, KYKLart builds its identity through action: residencies, routes, interventions, and shared experiences. Projects like Common Ground are not showcases, but processes—spaces where relationships with place and people are formed in real time.
Living network
KYKLart is not a fixed community but an evolving constellation of artists, thinkers, and practitioners. Rooted in the Cyclades yet open outward, it creates conditions for meaningful encounters—where exchange, not exposure, is the primary goal.
