SEMINA

On Monday, August 10, at 19:15, KYKLart invites you to Saint Kyriakos church, in Danakos, for SEMINA, a site-specific performance bringing together dance, painting, construction, and music.

In an open studio / work in progress format, resident artists Penelope Morout and Giacomo Dominici will share with the public the artistic research they developed during the 4th COMMON GROUND Art & Nature Residency, drawing inspiration from the island's natural and cultural landscape.

Just as nature remembers through cycles and rhythms, people define themselves through stories and traditions. SEMINA explores the relationship between memory, storytelling, water, and place.

During their residency, the two artists searched for the island's "water holes" within the stories of the Syros landscape, the patterns of its natural environment, and the memories of its people. Through the convergence of dance, painting, construction, and music, they invite the audience to reconnect with stories rooted in nature and to discover what new seeds of creativity can emerge through artistic collaboration.

Resident Artists

Penelope Morout

Penelope Morout is a Greek interdisciplinary dance artist, choreographer, scenographer, and founder of CROSS IMPACT Company. Her work explores the intersection of choreography, performance, visual arts, and spatial design, developing hybrid performances through a cinematographic gaze. Working internationally, she creates works where bodies, objects, and scenography exist in constant dialogue. Alongside her artistic practice, she teaches Sculpting Body-Images, an embodied movement practice that explores the body as a site of imagination, composition, and storytelling through movement.

Giacomo Dominici

Giacomo Dominici is an Italian theatre-maker, puppeteer, and visual artist based in Greece. His practice combines figure theatre, performance, drawing, and scenography, exploring how bodies, objects, and marks create meaning in space. Working across stage productions, site-specific performances, and educational projects, he develops an embodied approach in which construction, manipulation, and live drawing become tools for composition, imagination, and shared experience.

Οι φιλοξενούμενοι καλλιτέχνες Πηνελόπη Μωρούτ και Giacomo Dominici, σε μία λογική open studio / work in progress, θα μοιραστούν με το κοινό την καλλιτεχνική έρευνα που ανέπτυξαν στο πλαίσιο του 4ου COMMON GROUND Art & Nature Residency, αντλώντας έμπνευση από το φυσικό και πολιτισμικό τοπίο του νησιού.

Η δράση

Όπως η φύση θυμάται μέσα από κύκλους και ρυθμούς, έτσι και ο άνθρωπος αυτοπροσδιορίζεται μέσα από ιστορίες και παραδόσεις. Το SEMINA διερευνά τη σχέση ανάμεσα στη μνήμη, την αφήγηση, το νερό και τον τόπο.

Κατά τη διάρκεια της καλλιτεχνικής φιλοξενίας, οι δύο καλλιτέχνες αναζήτησαν τις πηγές του νερού στις ιστορίες του συριανού τοπίου, στα μοτίβα της νησιώτικης φύσης και στους ανθρώπους της.  Μας προσκαλούν να θυμηθούμε ιστορίες μέσα από τη σύνδεση με τη φύση και να δούμε τί μπορεί να γεννήσουν οι νέοι σπόροι μέσα από τη σύμπραξη χορού, ζωγραφικής, κατασκευής, μουσικής.

Πηνελόπη Μωρούτ

Η Πηνελόπη Μωρούτ είναι Ελληνίδα διαθεματική χορεύτρια, χορογράφος, σκηνογράφος και ιδρύτρια της ομάδας CROSS IMPACT. Το έργο της κινείται στο σημείο συνάντησης της χορογραφίας, της περφόρμανς, των εικαστικών τεχνών και του χωρικού σχεδιασμού, δημιουργώντας υβριδικές παραστάσεις μέσα από ένα κινηματογραφικό βλέμμα. Παράλληλα, διδάσκει τη μεθοδολογία κίνησής της Sculpting Body-Images, διερευνώντας το σώμα ως τόπο φαντασίας, σύνθεσης και αφήγησης.

Giacomo Dominici

Ο Giacomo Dominici είναι Ιταλός δημιουργός θεάτρου, κουκλοπαίκτης και εικαστικός καλλιτέχνης με έδρα την Ελλάδα. Η πρακτική του συνδυάζει το θέατρο αντικειμένων και κούκλας, την περφόρμανς, το σχέδιο και τη σκηνογραφία, διερευνώντας τον τρόπο με τον οποίο σώματα, αντικείμενα και ίχνη δημιουργούν νόημα στον χώρο. Μέσα από παραστάσεις, site-specific δράσεις και εκπαιδευτικά πρότζεκτ αναπτύσσει μια ενσώματη προσέγγιση που βασίζεται στη συλλογική εμπειρία και τη φαντασία.
